Your Timeline file stays in the browser.
Timeline Visualizer separates local location-history processing from base-map requests and analytics that load only after consent.
Timeline files
The file picker and drag-and-drop area use browser file APIs. Parsing, filtering, statistics, route corrections, playback, and local recording happen in the page running on your device.
Closing or reloading the page clears the loaded route model. The current version does not provide an account, cloud storage, or server endpoint for receiving the selected Timeline JSON.
Map requests
The base map starts after a Timeline file has been selected and parsed. It is supplied by OpenFreeMap using OpenStreetMap data. Your browser requests map styles, fonts, and tiles for the area visible on screen. Those requests expose normal network information to the map provider, but the Timeline JSON file is not attached to them.
Downloads
When you save a map image, record a WebM or MP4 animation, or export route corrections, the browser creates and downloads the file locally. Timeline Visualizer does not retain a server copy.
The downloaded file may still reveal sensitive places, dates, routes, and routines. Local creation does not make an exported map safe to share; inspect it before sending or publishing it.
Analytics and accounts
Timeline Visualizer does not include account creation or advertising scripts. On the main tool page, optional Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity scripts load only after you choose “Allow analytics.” If you decline, neither analytics script is requested. This privacy page does not load either script.
Google Analytics measures visits and page interactions. Microsoft Clarity measures clicks, scrolling, and masked session interactions. The map application is explicitly masked for Clarity, and your selected Timeline JSON is not sent to either service. You can change your choice using “Analytics settings” in the tool footer.
